Campagnola Lithium iron (Li-FePO4) batteries
Campagnola have looked to the future during the entire research, development and production process behind their all new electronic pruners. One of the advantages and real strengths of the Cobra and Mastiff pruners is that they are powered by Lithium iron phosphate batteries (Li-FePO4). These batteries are being widely adopted for use in devises that require a safe, sustainable, high power output and long shelf-life such as professional power tools and electric cars.
SAFER: Li-FePO4 cells are extremely safe and do not explode or release substances that are flammable in the event of overcharging, over-discharge, perforation, exposure to extreme temperature or mechanical damage. They are also manufactured using a more sustainable, non toxic cathode material.
LONGER LIFE: The number of cycles of charge / discharge before Li-FePO4 batteries are reduced to 80% of their initial efficiency is up to double that of Lithium Cobalt batteries.
STORAGE: Li-FePO4 batteries have a very low rate of self-discharge and can therefore be stored for a long time. The lithium iron phosphate cells have a value of self-discharge rate at approximately 5% per month in temperatures between 0 and 15 ° C and relative humidity below 65%.
OPERATING TEMPERATURE: The lithium iron phosphate batteries can be charged between 0 and 45 ° C, to be discharged between - 20 and + 60 ° C and stored at -10 to + 45 ° C.
RELIABILITY: To optimize performance and ensure safe operation and an extended working life, these Campagnola batteries are fitted with a BMS (Battery Management System) which has the following functions:
- Checking the voltage of each cell when charging to reach the programmed voltage
- Protection against current spikes
- Protection against overheating
- Cell balancing
- Indication of the SOC (state of charge) to a high accuracy
- Real Time Clock function, with memory of events occurring to the battery pack (number of cycles, date of last charge, etc.)
